Pennyburn Regeneration Youth Development Enterprise (PRYDE)

PRYDE are creating a community facility in Pennyburn, Kilwinning, developed and managed by young people aged between 11 and 25 years.  The project is transforming a disused public house, which was an eyesore in the local community, into a community asset owned and managed by the community of Pennyburn.  Irvine Housing Association are currently part of the advisory board and provide the group with technical, personnel and building development skills and knowledge.  The Association secured Wider Role funding which enabled PRYDE to take ownership of the building. The overall aim of the project is to provide the local people of Kilwinning with a community facility that is accessible to all which will provide services, opportunities and develop personal skills and goals.  Wider Role funding has been used as a contribution towards the conversion works. The project is currently on site with Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd as the main contractor with works due for completion in September 2011.
