IRVINE HOUSING ASSOCIATION STAFF BOARDK:A Leisure Activator Bus FOR FREE HEALTH CHECK
Staff at Irvine Housing Association were queuing up to board K:A Leisure's Activator Bus when it visited the Bank Street office on Friday 2 September 2011. The mobile health and fitness activity unit is just one of the initiatives the Association has signed up to as it works towards attaining the NHS Scotland Healthy Working Lives Silver Award.
Carol Ann Stuart, Executive Services Manager was the first member of staff to board the bus for a free private and confidential health assessment. “The Activator Bus is a great idea! In 20 minutes I got a blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose check, BMI test, grip strength test, waist circumference and lung function check as well as health and lifestyle advice. It was like a quick MOT – excellent when we are all busy and tend to put our health on the back burner. We are already planning our next Activator visit for 6 months time so we can see how our results have improved!”
Mairi Martin, Executive Director Resources also visited the bus, “We place great importance on providing a healthy and happy working environment for our staff. We are committed to investing in our staff and currently hold the Healthy Working Lives Bronze Award and recently some of our staff have signed up to our Cycle to Work Scheme in a bid to become more active. Our staff sickness levels demonstrate our success in providing a healthy workplace, and hiring the Activator Bus for a day is a small price to pay to ensure that our staff stay fit and healthy.”
