Irvine Housing Association, as part of its commitment to working with the local community, is delighted to be the main sponsor of this year’s Dumfries Lions Club Raft Race. The race will take place on Sunday 25 May 2008 on the River Nith from Nunholm to the Caul over a distance of approximately 2 miles. All monies raised will be donated to local charities.
The Association’s Chairman, Tommy Farrell and Chief Executive, Paul Hillard, presented the £2820.00 sponsorship money to Dumfries Lions Club’s representative, Ewan Fraser. Also present for the presentation was a representative from West Sound FM, DJ Tommy Jardine.
Mr Fraser said: “This is the 20th Annual Raft Race that the Dumfries Lions Club have held and we are delighted that Irvine Housing Association are sponsoring the event for the sixth year. The sponsorship money that they have provided now means that we can mark this anniversary by holding an extra special day filled with lots of fun for families to enjoy. We are also pleased to be working with West Sound FM, who will be promoting the race throughout their broadcasts the week of the race and then they will be holding a road show on the day of the event providing the spectators with live entertainment to enjoy.”
