Irvine Housing Association is pleased to announce that it has raised £5783.07 for The National Autistic Society Scotland over the last 12 months. The money was raised through a series of fundraising activities that have been organised by staff.
The money raised will go towards providing individuals with autism and their families across Scotland with help, support and services, which can make a positive difference to their lives. The Association’s Chief Executive, Paul Hillard and members of the Association’s Charity Committee, Joanna Hannah, Joan Smith, Joan Inches and Stephanie Morgan presented a cheque to The National Autistic Society’s, Gail Farquhar on 06 May 2008.
Paul Hillard said: “This is the second year that the Association has selected a charity and raised funds for it on an annual basis. Fundraising events have included a sponsored walk around Millport, a staff dance and staff lottery to name a few. I am delighted with the effort that the staff have made over this last year and with the final total raised”.
Gail Farquhar said: “This is a great achievement by the Association and its staff and we are very grateful. Autism is much more common than people think – 50,000 people in Scotland have autism. That’s one in one hundred. We make every penny count and the money raised will be spent on people with autism, providing them with the support they need and with a better quality of life”.
